Sky-high tall
sculpture of Lord Shri Hanuman is located at Keesaragutta Temple; Keesara under
Ranga Reddy district in the Indian state of Telangana. It is located around 40
kms from the state capital city Hyderabad.
Among its
legend Bhagwan Shri Ram installed Shiva lingam here to amend the sin of killing
demon Ravan who was a Brahman (Brahmin caste). Shri Ram selected this valley
and ordered Hanuman to bring Shivalingam from Varanasi. But Hanumanji was late
in arriving and the auspicious hour was near. At that moment Lord Shiva
appeared before Shri Ram and presented a Shivalingam for installation hence the
lingam in this temple is called Swayambhu Linga. It is also called
Ramalingeswara as Lord Shri Ram had installed the lingam.
Shri Hanumanji
returned with 101 lingams for selection from Varanasi and felt aggrieved when
he saw lingam already installed. He then threw them all over the nearby area
and those lingams are still found scattered in the surrounding areas outside
the temple.
