15th April, 2016 (Ninth day of month Chaitra Shukla Paksha) is one of the most important Hindu festival RAM NAVAMI.

Ram Raja Temple is located at Orchha town belongs to Tikamgarh district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Orchha is well connected to Delhi Agra Khajuraho and other major cities by road and rail. It is just 16 kms from Jhansi and 80 kms from the district head quarters Tikamgarh. Several trains are there between delhi and Jhansi.Tourist visiting Orchha will have to get off at Jhansi and then grab an auto rickshaw to Orchha which takes around 40 minutes. Tourist can also hire cab which takes around 20 minutes.

In India this is the only temple where Lord Ram is worshiped as a king and that too in a palace turned temple. A Guard of Honour is held every day, police personnel have been designated as Guards at the temple, much in the manner of a king. Bhagwan Shri Ram wears the turban of royalty and Devi Sita wears a crown whereas Lakshman is dressed as a prince. The food and other amenities provided to the deity at the temple are a royal repast. Armed salutation is provided to Lord Ram every day.

In the temple Raja Ram is accompanied by Sita (on the left), brother Lakshman (on the right), Maharaj Sugreev and Narsingh Bhagwan (on the right). Durga Maa is also present in Ram Darbar on the right side. Hanumanji and Jambavanji are praying just below Goddess Sita. The speciality of this temple is that Lord Ram has a sword in his right hand and a shield in the other. Bhagwan Shri Ram is sitting in Padmasan, with the left leg crossed over the right thigh.

This temple is also commonly known as Orchha Temple. It is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage and receives devotees in large numbers regularly. The annual domestic tourist number is around 6,50,000 and the foreign tourist number is around 25,000. The daily number of visitors to the temple range from 1,500 to 3,000 and on certain important Hindu festivals like Ram Navami, Vasant Panchami, Shivaratri, Kartik Purnima the number of devotees who throng to Orchha range in thousands.

100 feet height sky-touch gigantic statue of Lord Shiva is located at Har Ki Pauri; Haridwar (also spelled Hardwar) belongs to Haridwar district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is a fascinating idol of Lord Shiva where God is in standing posture with a trishul in his hand and a snake in his neck. This is rank fourth tallest idol of Lord Shiva in the world. An ancient city Haridwar is regarded as one of the seven holiest places (Sapta Puri) to Hindus.

Jai Ganga Maa Har Ki Pauri is a famous Ghat on the banks of the holy River Ganges in Haridwar. Literally, "Har" means "Lord Shiva" who is the God according to Shaivite Rishav Bhagwan school of Hindu theology, "Ki" means "of" and "Pauri" means "steps". Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are believed to have visited the Brahmakund in Har Ki Pauri in the Vedic times. There is a large footprint said to belong to Lord Vishnu on a stone wall. This revered place is the major landmark of the holy city of Haridwar. 

7th March, Monday, 2016 is a Hindu festival Maha Shivaratri

123 feet height towering marvelous sculpture of Great Lord Shiva is situated at Murdeshwar (or Murudeshwar or Murudeshwara) Temple; Murdeshwar town belongs to Bhatkal taluka under Uttara Kannada district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The statue, visible from great distances, is the second highest statue of Lord Shiva in the world. The idol is designed such that it gets the sunlight directly and thus appears sparkling.

Murudeshwara temple is built on the Kanduka Hill which is surrounded on three sides by waters of the Arabian Sea. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and a 20-storied Gopura (or Gopuram) is constructed at the temple. The temple authorities have installed a lift that provides a breath-taking view of the 123 feet height big Shiva idol from the top of 237.5 feet tallest Raja Gopura. There is also a Rameshwar Linga at the bottom of the hill, where devotees can do seva themselves. Shaneswara temple has been built next to the idol of Lord Shiva. Two life-size elephants in concrete stand guard at the steps leading to it.

108 feet height sky-high metal sculpture known as Mangal Mahadev, standing with his trident in the middle of Ganga Talao or Grand Bassin Lake, is located at the entrance of Lord Shiva temple in Mauritius (outside of India). The statue is replica (faithful copy) of the Shiva statue of Sursagar Lake located at Vadodara city in the Indian state of Gujarat.  It is the highest known statue in Mauritius island and also the third tallest statue of Lord Shiva in the world.

7^th March, Monday, 2016 is a Hindu festival Maha Shivaratri celebrated annually in reverence of the God Shiva. It is the day Shiva was married to the Goddess Parvati. The Maha Shivaratri festival, also popularly known as 'Shivaratri' or 'Great Night of Shiva', marks the convergence of Shiva and Shakti.

The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael leaves to Shiva, all-day fasting and an all-night-vigil (Jagaran). All through the day, devotees chant "Om Namah Shivaya”, the sacred Mantra of Shiva.

In Mauritius, Hindus go on pilgrimage to Ganga Talao (or Grand Bassin), a crater-lake, turned into the main Hindu prayer site of this sole Hindu majority African country.

During the Maha Shivaratri most of the devotees leave their homes and start a journey to Ganga Talao (or Grand Bassin) on foot. It has been a tradition that volunteer people offer foods and drinks to the pilgrims (the devotees). No one knows the depth of Ganga Talao Lake.
